The heating element appears to not be connected or inoperable upon testing it. It may be a simple repair as these toasters were really quite simple and basic in design. If you wan to toast bread, it will need attention.

    This is an IMMACULATE MANNING-BOWMAN TWO SLICE VINTAGE TOASTER Model No. 98.
    It was made in Meriden, Conn. in approximately 1935 -1940. The
    CONDITION
    of the
    CHROME FINISH IS
    PRACTICALLY WITHOUT ANY BLEMISH - FLAWLESS
    .

    I tried to test it for toasting bread but it did not heat up. I suspect there is a broken connection somewhere with the heating element. If you are at all handy with small appliance repairs, this should be relatively easy and inexpensive to fix. I have priced it accordingly. It would be much higher if it toasted OK.
