With over 5,000 players in NBA history, at least one player was born on every day of the calendar year – including three leap-day ballers. Our day-by-day breakdown of the players born on each day of the year continues.
Below are the most notable NBA players born on Sept. 14.
Jimmy Butler (Sept. 14, 1989): The 30th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls, Butler’s breakout season came in 2014-15 when he earned his first All-Star selection and was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player. After a six-year run in Chicago, Butler played the following two seasons in Minnesota and Philadelphia before joining the Miami Heat in 2019. His clutch play in the postseason earned him the nickname “Playoff Jimmy” and helped the Heat reach two NBA Finals. He enters his sixth season with the Heat in 2024-25 as a six-time All-Star, five-time All-NBA selection and five-time All-Defensive Team selection and holds career averages of 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists.
